CLDP, in coordination with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine (SIPSU), and the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, held two Workshops on Intellectual Property and Innovation in Kyiv and Odessa. Experts from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as Ukrainian officials and experts, shared their knowledge on issues of acquisition, commercialization and use of IP, and technology transfer, and protection of trade secrets. Participants included representatives from SIPSU, the Center of Intellectual Property and Transfer of Technology, the IP Research Institute, the Ukrainian Institute of Industrial Property, as well as commercial court judges, government officials, patent attorneys, and academics. 

The program’s objectives were 1) to create momentum in the development of the legal, institutional, and social framework promoting innovation in Ukraine; 2) to help form a group of stakeholders genuinely interested in developing the commercialization of IPR; and 3) to allow for the use by Ukrainian officials and experts of international best practices for the acquisition and use of IPR.
