CLDP sponsored the travel of USTR's Marideth Sandler to Tunisia and Egypt, October 24-November 4, 2008. Ms. Sandler conducted presentations on the U.S. General System of Preferences (GSP) in Tunisia (Tunis, Sfax and Sousse) and Cairo, Egypt. As a result, Tunisian and Egyptian small firms will understand how GSP works and, eventually, will avail themselves of the tariff advantages inherent to GSP. This provides Tunisia with strong incentives to agree to comply with rules that are critical for business such as the enforcement of intellectual property rights or the judicial enforcement of arbitral awards.
