From October 25 - November 4, CLDP conducted technology transfer consultations for Sri Lankan universities that are interested in establishing technology transfer offices and technology incubators in order to commercialize university-based research. Over the course of the eight-day program, the participants participated in an IP primer at USPTO and then traveled to Princeton University and Carnegie Mellon University to see first hand U.S. university-based innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems. As part of the university programs, the participants learned about technology transfer office and incubator organization and management, IP management strategy, technology valuation, access to finance and strengthening university/industry partnerships. This program will place the participating Sri Lankan universities in a better position to turn university-based research into products, services, companies, and jobs for the country.
