On June 19-20, CLDP joined a twelve member USG delegation that participated in a U.S./Sri Lanka Trade Investment Framework Council Meeting. Assistant USTR for South Asia Chris Wilson led this meeting that focused on trade issues raised by both sides that included: ease of doing business, market access, digital economy, WTO issues, trade policy, trade capacity building, IPR and the Indo-Pacific Strategy. These were a combination of issues that were important to U.S. companies interested in investing in Sri Lanka and also to Sri Lanka’s overall economic development. CLDP contributed substantially to the discussions, highlighting current and upcoming assistance as a response to almost all issues raised. The two sides agreed upon a Joint Statement upon conclusion of the meeting.
