As part of its technical assistance to Tunisia, CLDP is working to train local artisans on basic contractual agreements and export standards. The program is meant to help the large Tunisian artisanal sector increase its capacity to export to foreign markets.

As part of this program, CLDP held a training on February 13 for 30 students from the Tunis Business School who will work directly with the artisans in export assistance. On April 5, CLDP held a second training for both the students and 100 artisans, in the run-up to the Tunisian national handicraft exposition to be held in Tunis from April 22-May 1. The trainings focused on contractual agreements, export standards, shipping, and payment techniques.

CLDP is collaborating with the Tunisian American Young Professionals network and the Tunisian National Handicrafts Office on this project, with funding from the US Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative.
