CLDP, in cooperation with the Public Institution Center for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of FBiH, held a Workshop on Adjudication of Intellectual Property Civil Infringement Cases in Sarajevo. The program, for approximately 20 judges representing the various entities within BiH, focused on select copyright and trademark issues. The workshop utilized case studies and interactive discussions as well as the recently published Judicial Intellectual Property Benchbook for BiH. Leading the workshop were the BiH judges who also authored the Benchbook, as well as U.S. District Court of Maryland Judge Marvin Garbis.  

Through CLDP’s ongoing program of judicial capacity building and the utilization of an IP benchbook, BiH judges will gain the skills necessary to fairly, efficiently, and effectively adjudicate intellectual property civil infringement cases. This judicial training program will produce predictable, harmonized, and efficient adjudication of IP infringement cases across BiH. The anticipated long term outcome is that the Judicial and Prosecutorial Training Centers in BiH will take ownership of this training program and continue to use its methodology and the benchbook to build a critical mass of competent, fair, and efficient judges trained in the enforcement of IPR.
