As part of an ongoing program of judicial capacity building and IP enforcement for Bosnia and Herzegovina, CLDP held a workshop in Sarajevo on Adjudication of Intellectual Property Criminal Infringement Cases. The workshop for judges, prosecutors, customs officials and state police, representing the various entities within BiH, focused on counterfeit medicines, hard disk loading, and internet piracy using specially written country-specific case studies. The team of advisors included Federal District Court Judge Bernice Donald, Court of BiH Judges Ljiljana Laloviæ, Department of Commerce Deputy General Counsel for Strategic Initiatives Quentin Palfrey, and Department of Justice Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator for Eastern Europe Matthew Lamberti. This was the third such program organized in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy and the Public Institution Centres for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of FBiH, Republika Srpska, and Brcko District. The goal of these workshops is to contribute to the enforcement of intellectual property rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina by creating a critical mass of BiH judges, prosecutors, customs officials and state police trained in the enforcement of IP laws.
