CLDP Organizes Maghreb Regional Conference on Alternative Dispute Resolution

 CLDP organized a Regional Conference on the Use of Alternative Dispute Resolution to Resolve Intellectual Property Disputes in Rabat, Morocco, October 30-31, 2013. CLDP worked with key international and regional organizations to develop a program for the judiciary, government officials, private attorneys and the business community from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia to assist in the continued strengthening of ADR practices in the region.
 
The program promoted the use of ADR as a practical option for resolving commercial disputes and provide training on complex issues in ADR disputes. The program also focused on fostering trust in the ADR system by increasing the competency of the system. The program addressed the current state of ADR in Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria and provided in-depth training to attorneys, government officials and judges on specific technical issues of ADR in the areas of intellectual property rights.


This conference is part of CLDP’s technical assistance provided through the U.S. Department of State - Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). CLDP’s MEPI programs support the U.S. Government’s efforts to assist economic development and investment and to promote an environment that encourages free-market based reforms in MENA countries.
