On October 26-28, 2105, CLDP conducted an assessment for a new commercial law technical assistance program for the Government of Sri Lanka.  In January 2015 the Sri Lanka people voted for a platform of reform and anticorruption.  The clear mandate from the Sri Lankan people is an opportunity for renewed U.S. diplomatic engagement on the core issues of reconciliation, social cohesion, human rights, rule of law, economic opportunity, governance, and the restoration of democratic institutions. CLDP has entered into an interagency agreement (IAA) with the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asia (SCA) to provide programs in the following areas: trade capacity building, government procurement, alternative dispute resolution, and intellectual property reform. Following CLDP's assessment and meetings with key government, academic and private sector stakeholders, CLDP will work with SCA to develop a workplan for each of the four subcomponents of the IAA and commence its programming after adoption of the workplan.
