On May 30-June 2, 2017, as a follow-on to CLDP’s Trans-Caspian Workshop on Trade Facilitation and Cross-Border Issues, Michael Cofield was invited to participate in the 16^th Annual International Trade and Transport Week (ITTW) in Odessa, Ukraine and to present as part of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Seminar on Trade and Transport Facilitation. Representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine, as well as advisors from the European Commission, the UN, and the World Trade Organization also participated in the Seminar. Michael Cofield’s presentation focused on the Challenges and Opportunities for Public-Private Partnerships in Trade Facilitation in Ukraine. Participants from the UNECE, the EU, and the Government and private sector in Ukraine requested that CLDP organize an entire workshop on Public-Private Partnerships as an instrument for facilitating trade in Ukraine. In addition to the facilitation of cross-border trade and transport, the ITTW week-long series of events covered the effect of the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement on agricultural trade, infrastructure projects throughout the Silk Road region, and technological solutions to trade facilitation challenges.
