CLDP recorded the first of a series of webinars for Moldovan officials responsible for the development of sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures. A trade specialist from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service presented an overview of the transparency rules in the WTO SPS Agreement and the U.S. approach to preparing WTO SPS notifications, commenting on other WTO members’ notifications, and responding to comments on U.S. notifications. CLDP subtitled the presentation in Romanian and shared it with Moldovan officials working on SPS and WTO issues. This will be followed by a presentation from Moldovan counterparts on their WTO SPS notification process and a virtual roundtable where Moldovan officials can ask U.S. experts how best to strengthen their SPS transparency mechanisms.
