From August 24-26, CLDP conducted a workshop and a series of meetings with key organizations in the Dominican Republic to launch public procurement support to small businesses. CLDP, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MICM), conducted a hybrid workshop on best practices in providing procurement technical assistance. The workshop launched CLDP’s program to create and train technical assistance units within all Dominican Small Business Centers with the objective of increasing small business access to government contracts. CLDP also held a meeting with the General Directorate for Public Contracting’s Division of Private Sector Inclusivity to incorporate existing CLDP-DGCP technical assistance into the Small Business Centers’ programming, which will expand the scope of training to small and women-owned businesses. Lastly, CLDP conducted meetings with small business associations and women-owned business associations to discuss key procurement issues and new programming to strengthen their associations.
