From June 23 -24, 2022, CLDP, together with U.S. Commercial Service Miami, coordinated a Dominican Government’s delegation market sounding visit to South Florida. The delegation included officials from the General Directorate for Public Private Partnerships (DGAPP) and the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM). The visit included meetings with cruise lines, port operators, and port engineering firms to better understand the market and to discuss best practices in port operations and maintenance. The visit provided an opportunity to address the delegation’s specific questions about a new proposed cruise port to be constructed in the Dominican Samaná peninsula via public-private partnership, in advance of the RFQ’s official release in August. The visit culminated in a tour of Ft. Lauderdale’s Port Everglades. This visit was conducted as part of CLDP’s multi-phase effort to build the institutional capacity of DGAPP
