From August 22-31, 2022, CLDP, together with U.S. Commercial Service Miami, supported the Dominican General Directorate for Public Private Partnerships (DGAPP) as they conducted their first PPP project roadshow in Miami and Mexico City. The project aims to develop a cruise terminal and other facilities in the Samaná peninsula. CLDP advised a delegation that included six Dominican officials from the DGAPP, the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), and the Dominican Center for Export and Investment (PRODOMINICANA). Support for the roadshow is part of CLDP’s model of providing direct coaching to DGAPP technical units on best practices in PPP development by shadowing the development of a PPP project. During the roadshow, the Dominican delegation implemented learned strategies to pitch their project to the private sector including cruise lines, engineering firms, and infrastructure developers in both locations. This visit was conducted as part of CLDP’s multi-phase effort to build the institutional capacity of DGAPP.
