Dominican Republic: CLDP Delivers Recommendations on Draft Procurement Law

-

On May 13-27, CLDP, in cooperation with the Dominican Republic’s (DR) General Directorate for Public Procurement (DGCP), conducted a series of virtual sessions to present comments and recommendations for improving the DR’s new draft public procurement law. CLDP worked with a group of U.S., international, and Dominican experts to identify gaps in, and deviations from, international best practices in public procurement. CLDP sent the DGCP a consolidated report highlighting the comments and recommendations. The law review is a key component of the USAID-funded project to support the DR’s effort to address issues of efficiency, transparency, sustainability, and inclusivity for small and women-owned businesses in the DR’s current procurement system. CLDP’s support was highlighted, at a high-level meeting between the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires and President Luis Abinader, as a key pillar of USG support to the DR on their anti-corruption efforts.
