On April 22, CLDP, in coordination with the General Directorate for Public Contracting and the Dominican Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises, organized a roundtable with representatives from the small business sector to discuss the difficulties they face with the public procurement system. The Dominican Republic (DR) is in the process of modifying its public procurement law, with an aim to improve transparency and inclusivity for small businesses, particularly women-owned businesses. While the DR is a model for good practices in improving access to government contracts for small businesses, significant gaps and barriers remain for the sector. This meeting is part of an ongoing effort to make sure the draft public procurement law reflects international best practices and effectively addresses the concerns and issues of small businesses.
