From November 16 – 17, 2022, CLDP, together with procurement experts from the U.S. Department of Defense, the USAID contracting office, and the former director of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, hosted a two-day workshop focused on best practices in the application of best value procurement strategies, specifically in the electric sector. The workshop reached 60 Dominican officials, from organizations including the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), the Superintendence of Electricity of the Dominican Republic (SIE), and all major regional electricity distribution companies. After introducing international best practices, the workshop discussed application of best value during the planning, selection, and implementation phases of procurement, before offering multiple case studies and group exercises to practice learned concepts. This workshop served to further CLDP’s objective to improve transparency, efficiency, and sustainability in the Dominican procurement system.
