On June 30, CLDP, in coordination with the Dominican Republic’s General Directorate for Public Contracting (DGCP), hosted a workshop on conducting effective due diligence of vendors in public procurement. DGCP requested CLDP’s support to train procurement compliance officers on responsibility determinations of potential vendors to reduce the risks of non-performance, anticompetitive conduct, and corruption in the procurement system. Procurement experts from the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, and the General Services Administration led the workshop, which is the first in a multi-phase effort to build the capacities of the new compliance officers to effectively carry out their oversight, audit, and compliance functions.
